Fellow Ugandans,
Not only does the Holy Koran prohibit the eating of pork, so does the Holy Bible. However, the people, especially Christians eat pork without any regard for the Holy Bible’s prohibition.
As I was growing up I noticed that pork was forbidden in our home. Attending Christian schools in which Church service was compulsory and Scripture being part of the school’s curriculum, it was easy to realize that pork was forbidden as food. However, the Holy Bible explains the prohibition of pork as, the Law of purification. I don’t know for sure how the Holy Koran states about the prohibition of pork for food or being close to a pig.
At home we, the children were told to go and call a devout Muslim whenever a bull, a goat or chicken had to be slaughtered. My parents said that eating meat of an animal which was not slaughtered by a devout Muslim was considered unholy and that God could not bless such food. That meant, at least for our understanding as children, that such food would not be nutritious.
With this ”Swine flu”, I don’t know how I would explain it to my parents who did not speak much English, perhaps could describe it as ”Senyigga y’empunu” (Influenza of pigs). My question to the UAH forum is, did the Prophets of God see the danger in pork that the people continued to ignore the warning? I use the tittle, Prophet to include Jesus Christ without any offence intended. I realize that some Churches refer to Jesus Christ as the ”Son of God”.

Yes you are correct. Pork was never meant for human consumption. We should not even ask the Lord to bless any pork or even give thanks for it at the dinner table for it is not sanctify by the word of God. 1Tim.4:4-5
1. Pork prohibited in Qur’an
The Qur’an prohibits the consumption of pork in no less than 4 different places.
It is prohibited in 2:173, 5:3, 6:145 and 16:115.
“Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine,
and that on which hath been invoked the name of other than Allah.”
[Al-Qur’an 5:3]
The above verses of the Holy Qur’an are sufficient to satisfy a Muslim as to why
pork is forbidden.
2. Pork prohibited in the Bible
The Christian is likely to be convinced by his religious scriptures. The Bible
prohibits the consumption of pork, in the book of Leviticus
“And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be cloven footed, yet he cheweth
not the cud; he is unclean to you”.
“Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcass shall ye not touch,
they are unclean to you.” [Leviticus 11:7-8]
Pork is also prohibited in the Bible in the book of Deuteronomy
“And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud,
it is unclean unto you. Ye shall not eat of th
In regards to eating pork: In the Old Testament you have the dietary laws which prohibit certain animals to be eaten and you are right eating pork (pigs) is one of them. But we need to understand the Holy Scriptures carfully, remember the Old Testament points to the Messiah, they were if you will a picture of Christ. In the Gospel according to Matthew 15 the Pharisees ask Jesus why his disciples were breaking tradition by eating without washing their hands. It seems as though Jesus goes deeper into the thought, by saying “What goes into a man’s mouth does not make him unclean, but what comes out of his mouth, this is what makes him ‘unclean’.”(Matt.15:11). When reading that passage in Matthew 15:1-20 you see that Jesus is pointing to the heart that make a person unclean. Then there is Acts 10:9-23 Where God shows Peter a vision with all the unclean animals and tells Peter to kill and eat. Peter responds “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean” then God replies “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean” of course this is a passage about the Gentiles hearing the Gospel message. One other thing that needs to be mentioned is that Christians are not going against what God says when they eat pork, if you look at Colossians 2:16-17 you see where Paul says “Therefore no is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or with regards to religious festivals, a new moon celebration or a sabbath day- things which are a mere shadow of what was to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.” Remember Paul was a Hebrew from the tribe of Benjamin, he was a Hebrew of Hebrews who knew the law of God (Philippians 3:1-6). As Christians we are not under the Law, but under Grace (Romans 6:14). We are not under the Old Covenant, but the New Covenant (Luke 22:20; 2 Corinthians 3:6;Hebrews 9:1, 15; Hebrews 12:24) We see in the Old Testament that there was to be a New Covenant Jeremiah 31:31. I do not think the swine flu is caused by us ingnoring some warning of eating pork. People just get sick from time to time, viruses just come about at times. But I guess the reason why there are these viruses is because of sin itself, because as humans we are sinners and need that relationship with Jesus Christ, to trust in Him alone. Well I hope this was heplfull sorry it is long wasn’t planning on that. Have a great week
first of all no one really knows who wrote the majority of the new testament of the bible.futhermore they were written well after jesus was supposedly crucified so one has to ask his/herself is this the word of GOD or man.another thing to ponder on is why didnt jesus make pork lawful prior to him being supposedly crucified.if he is the son of GOD as christians beleive and he has indepth knowledge of the things to come why wouldnt he have addressed this issue before he went away
ok boyz let me clear all the cloudy mess for you guyz. first off, why doubt the bible? – abdul qadr?? and why doubt the quran??. since you dont know who wrote the bible, whats the guarantee that you know who wrote the quran. lets have faith and believe in GOD, the supreme omnipotent omniscient force. HE is great. secondly, jesus did sort out the issue – for your knind info – he said – its not wat goes inside your mouth that makes you unclean, but the stuff that comes out of it – like lies, malice, avarice, pride, lust etc.. so the issue is clear.
let us believe in GOD and not argue over HIM
Matthew 15:1-20
Jesus simply meant that eating (clean food) with unwashed hands does not make a man unclean (at heart) but what comes out his mouth does because mouth expresses the content of one’s heart.

Thanks & praises are all due to the almighty GOD. Since all these holly books contain verses that prohits the consuption of pork, we hav to stop eating it so as to be pleasant before God. We hav to believ in hiz prophets & the books given to them if we are rearly God fearing pp’l . Wat eva is mentioned bad has to be bad & good haz to be good. No nid to turn unlawfull things lawfull since it is an act of a sin. Find the right path, hav faith & lov every body to show good exampl of your religion.
I am sure that eating pork will not cause you to suffer in hell. The real message that Jesus showed to Peter nothing is forbidden, but I would not try and cause division by serving pork to Jewish or Muslim person. I am saved by the death of Jesus on the cross, and I am under grace of the new covenant. I would encourage anyone to read the new testament as Paul was a great apostole of Jesus after his conversion. Read John 3 where Jesus speaks about being born again, and even the old testament speaks about Jesus psalm 22. Psalm 2 etc.Daniel
