In a bid to bridge the various religious sects, Idi Amin convened an All Religious Leaders Conference on Kabale in May 1971. He later convened a meeting of heads of States and Religious beliefs in June 1971 at the Kampala International Conference Centre in order to brief them on the resolutions of the Kabale conference.
